In partnership with the WUSPBA, the YEC, along with other volunteers, will be working the Piping and Drumming Learning Centers at the Pleasanton Highland Games. This includes: Piping & Drumming Learning Center and Piping & Drumming Expert Desk.

Our Learning Center tent focuses on attracting new and curious players to piping and drumming. With a goal of inspiring new players, introductory lessons will be given as well as resources to find future instructors and bands.

Introductory Lessons

Group lessons will be given that involve and demonstrate how pipes and drums are played. These lessons are for ANYONE who is interested! There will be practice chanters/ practice pads/ drumsticks/ mallets available for use in these lessons.

Resources

Provided at our designated tents will be a map of pipe bands and instructors throughout the western United States. With this list we are able to point those who are curious in the right direction.

Our Piping & Drumming Expert Desk focuses on helping returning players prepare for competition. With help from experienced players, we are able to assist with any instrumental needs.

Instrumental Needs

Experienced players will be at the tent at all time helping with tuning prior to solo competitions, instrument set up, answers to questions about instruments, as well as provided necessary tools and parts.

Support

We hope to provide support to players who are at the games without assistance of more experienced band mates or instructors. Along with that we will also be providing similar resources listed for the Learning Center.
